Foster families

Since 2006, the Russian Committee of SOS Children’s Villages have run a “Foster families” programme in the Murmansk region.

The tasks of the project include the following:

• to prepare the foster families using the PRIDE programme and to provide them with additional knowledge about children left without a biological family;

• to give advice to foster parents and children on psychological and educational matters;

• to provide the foster children and “foster family graduates” with juridical and financial support;

• to raise the quality of childcare.
