On May 20th SOS Children's Village Tomilino celebrated its 10the Anniversary. In 1996 the first child came to live to the CV. During this period more than a hundred children who left for different reasons without parental care gained here their home, brothers and sisters and a loving and careful person – the SOS Mother. During half a year there went an active preparation for celebrating the good round figure. “Jubilee Commission” that included Russian National Office co-workers, the CV Director and the CV office staff and the “senior” SOS Mother gathered once a month and worked intensively. The plot of the feast and models of booklets and invitations have been worked out, refreshments have been bought. Russian sponsors have rendered Assistance was also rendered by Russian sponsors. The Youth Theatre where the grand meeting was held had been placed at the CV’s disposal free, the popular singers performed without fees, the SOS families got various and numerous presents. The longstanding friends of the CV – the military unit – brought field kitchen in which lunch for all participants of the feast was cooked. The Grand Meeting devoted to the tenth anniversary of the SOS Children’s Village Tomilino had place on May 19, 2006 in the building of the Youth Theatre. In a press conference held before it Mrs. Elena Bruskova, the founder of the SOS Russia and its Honorary President, Mr. Andrey Lekmanov, the SOS Russia President, Mr. Leonid Mityaev, the Village Director of the CV Tomilino and Mr. Alexey Golovan, the City Hall representative on children’s rights. During the press conference the items on the unique experience of the orphans’ upbringing in the frames of the family model and the problems of social orphans in Russia were covered. In the theatre lobby a photo exhibition “World watched with our children’s eyes” was organized. At its stands the guests could see the pictures shot by the SOS CV Tomilino children, devoted to such topics as “Our house”, “My SOS Mother and aunt”, “Walking”, “Fluffy inhabitants of the Children’s Village”.  Then the concert started. The first song was “Mama” performed by the CV Tomilino choir. During the festivity the SOS children got a lot of greetings. Three other Village Director, Mrs. Elena Bruskova, Mr. Markus Zemanek, Regional Director of the SOS Kinderdorf International, Mr. Martin Voucovich, the Austrian Ambassador in Russia ascended the stage and made warm speeches with congratulations. Mr. Markus Zemanek also delivered the greetings from Mr. Helmut Kutin, the SOS Kinderdorf International President. The telegram from the Russian President spouse Mrs. Ludmila Putina was read out.  The official greetings and congratulations were made in turns with creative gifts of the SOS children from the other three Russian CVs who prepared dances, merry songs and sketches, presented their own paintings. Many Russian SOS CVs friends, thanks to whose unselfish assistance the SOS Mothers and the Village staff have an opportunity to grow the children without the parental care in family atmosphere and prepare them to the adult life, came with their congratulations. Young musicians from Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, popular singers from the musicals “Subway” and “Romeo and Juliette” and the rising Russian pop star presented their concert items to the SOS children who even got an opportunity to dance on the stage together with the singers.  At the end of the festivity everybody was struck by surprise: from above hundreds of multicoloured balloons with the SOS symbol fell down on the amazed audience – the children were laughing rapturously and the adults turned into children for some minutes and believed in a miracle.  On May 20 the festivity was continues on the territory of the Children’s Village Tomilino. The SOS children and the Village staff prepared the concert with dancing and singing items. Then they became the spectators themselves – the “Farce” theatre actors presented to everybody a fairy tale congratulation and arranged a soap bubble show. In the morning of that day the weather was rainy but with the beginning of the feast the dark clouds disappeared and the our children took part in all contests and competitions in the open air which were organized by the Ronald McDonald Centre. This was followed by a friendly football match between the SOS children and SOS pedagogues. Friendship won. Then the hungry children and guests were met with a delicious lunch in the small forest on the CV’s territory – real “military” buckwheat cereal and Uzbek pilaw.   And in the evening both children and adults danced at the merry discotheque under the brances of the old pine and fir trees. Everybody was just delighted with the feast. |
