| 07/03/2007 VIII Annual Moscow Contest "Female Director" | ||
Elena Glagoleva, National Director of SOS Russia became the winner of the Annual Contest “Female Director” which is held by the Committee of Public Relations of Moscow.  This is the 8th year that the contest has taken place. The aim of the contest is to support female managers who demonstrate high professionalism in various fields (industry, culture, healthcare, education, social sphere). 133 female directors took part in the contest and 22 won. Participators and winners got diplomas and memorable gifts.   On the 6th of March the winners took part in the Reception in the City Hall. When awarding Elena Glagoleva the chief of the Committee of Public Relations Tatiana Vasilyeva said: “In 1949, Hermann Gmeiner, appalled by the number of homeless children on the streets, thought up a very effective family-based model of children’s home. This was SOS Children’s Villages – a group of houses where, children who have lost their family live and in every house is a mother who lives together with the youngsters and looks after them just like any other mother worldwide. As a rule, this is a single woman who does not have any children. Today in our country there are 4 SOS Children’s Villages, established thanks to the initiative of the Russian Committee “SOS Children’s Villages” of which Elena Glagoleva is the National Director.  In SOS Children’s Villages, what is important is that biological brothers and sisters live in the same family, what is important is that they find their place in life, and what is the most important, is that lonely children’s hearts and the hearts of women, overflowing with love, find each other. Today’s award for Elena Glagoleva is a symbol of the support of this wonderful useful work, a symbol of gratitude for what you have done and continue to do”. |
