On the 30th of April, a return friendly mini-football match between teams from SOS Children's Villages Russia, and SOS Children's Villages Belarus took place. In October last year, as part of the Worldwide Peace Games, children from SOS Russia visited Byelorussian SOS Children's Village Borovlyani. This time, the match between the SOS Byelorussian team and a team made up of children from 2 Russian SOS Children's Villages, took place in Oryol on the Oryol Olympic Reserve School’s base; the guests from Belarus stayed in SOS Children's Village Lavrovo. The children became friends during last year's friendly meeting, and so were very glad to see each other again. The day before the match, they went together on an excursion around the literary-historical sights of Oryol, as well as visiting the Academy of Governmental Communication museum.  In the evening, children from SOS Children's Village Lavrovo performed a concert for their guests before they all had supper round a bonfire, and stayed up late talking and singing songs. At the same time, SOS-Mothers from Russia and Belarus, who had come to support their children, were able to get to know each other and visit the Oryol Dramatic Theatre.  The following day was called "Healthy Day". In the morning, the football match took place in the stadium. Although the day was unseasonably cold for spring, thanks to the heat of the emotions of the match, neither the players nor the supporters felt the cold. The best players of each team came out onto the field, and every one of them did their best to win for their team. The supporters encouraged the players with loud cries and even sang songs. Friendship won! After the match the children and adults went to the swimming pool in Oryol's sports centre. On the last day, the children and adults took part in a military-patriotic game with cadets from Oryol's Cossack Cadet School. A military-field kitchen was organized, and there was a concert of military-patriotic songs by the Oryol artists, a disco and a goodbye dinner. Many of the children found new friends, and one of them even met their first love. The combined team from SOS Children's Villages Russia was invited to the next return match in SOS Children's Village Borovlyani.       |
