On the 4th of May, the Sponsorship Agreement for the building of a 5th SOS Children’s Village, in Vologda, was signed. Until now, all building of SOS Children’s Villages, and the maintenance of those living in its care, have been paid for by the international organization SOS Kinderdorf International, which collects money for this purpose from all over the world. This will be the first Children’s Village in the history of SOS Russia to be built using the funds of a Russian organisation, "Victoria" Children's Foundation. This sponsor also taken on itself the responsibility for financing the first year of the Village’s operation. On the 31st of May, the Agreement with the Vologda Authorities will be signed. This will include agreements about the allocation of the land for the SOS Children’s Village, and about support for the SOS programmes which are directed towards preventing social orphan-hood in the Vologda region.   |
