On the 16th of May, SOS Children's Village Pushkin celebrated its seventh birthday. The celebrations began with a speech by Director S.V. Yakovenko, who wished the children, mothers and all staff a happy birthday. The many friends and guests present expressed warm wishes to all those living in the Village. Six categories of certificates were awarded to the Village's SOS-Mothers, Aunts and co-workers "For devotion and loyalty to SOS Children's Village Pushkin", "For the ability to include a hobby into the life of the Children's Village and to make it really interesting", "For creative achievement in their work with children", "For effective cooperation between an SOS-family and a Youth Facility", "For a steady creative relationship between SOS Aunt and Mother", and "For professional growth."    The children prepared a concert programme in the form of a report about the Children's Village. They sang, danced, read poems, and composed and sang a song about the Children's Village.   Guests took part in the planting of a Tree of Friendship on the territory of the Village.  According to tradition, the birthday ended with the traditional dinner around a bonfire.    On the following day the children's favourite Russian football player, Andrey Arshavin, came to congratulate the Village on its birthday. Together with Andrey came his mother Tatiana Ivanovna, his wife Yulya, and his friend and fellow footballer Aleksandr Anyukov Andrey gave the children a playground.   He played 3 mini-football matches with the SOS Children's Village's children, and also with a team of girls and Youth Facility youngsters.      After the traditional distribution of autographs, the guests visited a family house where Andrey, his mother, his wife and Aleksandr Anyukov had tea with the SOS-mother and her children.    Aleksandr Anyukov promised the children that next time he would play football with them too. |
