| 01/06/2007 SOS Children's Village will appear in Vologda | ||
On the 31st of May, the day before International Children’s Defence Day, a three-sided Agreement about the construction of SOS Children's Vologda was signed. The three sides involved in the Agreement are: the Vologda region authorities, the Russian Committee "SOS Children's Village" and Children's Foundation "Victoria".  The Governor of Vologda region, V.E. Pozgalev, who took part in the signing ceremony, underlined that "This is a very serious project, for children deprived by fate. In Vologda region there are family-based children's homes built on the principle of a big family, but the issue of the children's adaptation into society has not yet been worked out sufficiently. For us the experience accumulated in other countries which we can then replicate, is important." The Governor informed mass media representatives, that he will personally patronise the project of creating the SOS Children's Village.  The President of the Russian Committee "SOS Children's Villages", A.U. Lekmanov, noted: "It is nice for us that the SOS Children's Village will be built on wonderful Vologda land, from which have come some wonderful people. Here the Russian Committee has found a safe partner in the matter of creating the Children's Village". He also thanked Children's Foundation "Victoria", which is the project’s investor. Children's Foundation "Victoria" is a Russian non-commercial organisation, which works so that as many children as possible left without parental support, receive the opportunity of living in families or conditions close to that of families, in order to receive the same opportunities as other children, and to have confidence in their futures. On the 4th of May, a sponsorship Agreement for the building of the SOS Children's Village was signed between the Russian Committee "SOS Children's Villages" and Children's Foundation "Victoria".  After the signing of the agreement, the delegation visited the plot of land assigned for the Village's construction in the southern region of Vologda, close to Evkovo village. The plot of land, which is 3.5 hectares, is placed in a region of low-rise buildings, very close to schools, kindergartens, shops and markets, as well as other important facilities.  |
